The Makerere University Mathematical Society (MUMS) launched.

The Makerere University Mathematical Society (MUMS) was launched on Friday 2nd October 2026. The society, which aims at transforming how mathematics is perceived, used and enjoyed at Makerere, was formed following the inspiring π-day celebrations in Nakaseke District, Uganda, and a call to action from Prof. Betty Kivumbi Nannyonga. The society's vision is to build a hub of innovation in mathematics that advances excellence and utilizes mathematics to solve the challenges of tomorrow.
