MATH4SDG

The Mathematics for Sustainable Development (MATH4SDG) project is a research and development project running from 2021 to 2026 at Makerere University in Uganda, the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, and the University of Bergen in Norway. It is funded through the NORHED II programme under the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD, project no 68105). NORHED II aims to strengthen the capacity of higher education institutions in developing countries through North-South-South university partnerships. The MATH4SDG project has defined three project outcomes: better mathematical research at the three universities, updated and relevant educational programs in mathematics and mathematical education, and higher visibility of the departments. The latter will be achieved through closer collaboration with local and regional industry and government. A total of 11 PhD students, 7 in applied mathematics and 4 in mathematics education areas, are funded through the project.
